Steve L. Stretchberry to Lead TranSystems’ Aviation Practice

TranSystems recently announced that Steve L. Stretchberry has joined the company as vice president/market sector leader for its San Francisco office and in support of the firm’s aviation group, bringing proven experience in supporting large airport development programs.
Stretchberry has over 30 years of experience in airport planning, engineering design, and program management. He has worked not only as a consultant to support the development of more than 20 Airport Master Plans, but also has been responsible for implementing them on the airport owner and operator side. His long-term recognition and leadership within the aviation community allows him ready access to the full range of industry leaders both on the public and private side.

“TranSystems is very happy to announce that Steve has joined our team as market sector leader for our aviation sector,” said John Blythe, corporate marketing and business development officer for TranSystems. “Adding a respected and experienced leader such as Steve to our team underscores our commitment to focus heavily on the aviation sector as a key component to our firm’s growth. We see Steve as an insightful, proven leader who will continue to provide the client the highest expertise in the challenging, yet exciting segment of the market.”

Stretchberry also brings a long history of developing geospatial computer applications to support large airport projects. From the ACAD-driven “Snapshots” used to depict construction sequencing of more than 60 projects at SFO, to the Flash Visio version for tracking the design and construction of more than 72 projects at SeaTac, to the development of the Web-based GIS Utility Master Plan Database (UMPD) applications for LAS, Stretchberry has successfully produced effective management information systems which improve communication and facilitate decision-making.

In previous positions, Stretchberry has served as VP, Director of Aviation at Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, where he was responsible for leading the airports’ market sector; VP, Director of Aviation at CH2MHILL; and Principal Airport Planner for start-up of Program Management of the $3B Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Master Plan Development Program, among many other executive and planning positions.

His degrees include a BA in Fine Arts with a minor in architecture from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MSE in transportation engineering at the University of California at Berkeley, in addition to his AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification. He has served on the Planning Committee of the Airports Consultant Council (ACC), the Operations & Technical Affairs Committee of the Airports Council International (ACI), as Chairman of the Task Force on Environmental Impacts of Aviation for the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy of Sciences, and is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
